Jacques Laurent is a business leader, community advocate, and lifelong public servant dedicated to building stronger, more inclusive communities across Georgia.
His commitment to community runs just as deep. Jacques has served in leadership roles with the NAACP Gwinnett Branch, including First Vice President and Treasurer, and has also contributed at the state level. He has served as Chairman of the Georgia Haitian-American Chamber of Commerce, working to strengthen economic opportunity and collaboration across diverse communities. His work has consistently focused on empowering people, supporting businesses, and building bridges across cultures.
Closer to home, Jacques has been actively involved in local schools, community organizations, and his HOA—always showing up where service is needed. As a father of four sons and a lifelong musician, he understands the importance of education, mentorship, and creating opportunities for the next generation.
Jacques is running for State Representative in House District 97 because he believes leadership should be grounded in service—not politics. He is focused on the issues that matter most to working families: affordability, strong public schools, economic opportunity, and a government that works effectively and transparently for the people.
His vision is simple: a community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive, where leadership brings people together, and where progress is measured by the real impact it has on people’s lives.
Originally from Haiti, Jacques made his way to the United States and ultimately found his home in Gwinnett County nearly three decades ago. Like many families in our community, his journey has been shaped by hard work, perseverance, and a deep belief in opportunity. That journey continues to drive his commitment to service today.
